New Science & Innovation Lab Inaugurated by District Collector

A New Chapter in Science Education

In a momentous ceremony on October 21st, Greenwood International School unveiled its brand-new Science and Innovation Laboratory — a Rs. 2.4 crore state-of-the-art facility that will transform how our students engage with the sciences for years to come.

The facility was inaugurated by Shri. K. Rajan, District Collector, Malappuram, in the presence of school management, staff, parents, and students. In his inaugural address, the Collector praised the school's continued investment in educational infrastructure and called it "a model for schools across Kerala."

What the New Lab Offers

  • Dedicated workstations for 40 students to work simultaneously
  • AI-powered smart microscopes with real-time image analysis
  • Advanced spectroscopy and chromatography equipment
  • Robotics and electronics prototyping zone with Arduino and Raspberry Pi kits
  • 3D printer and laser cutter for design and fabrication projects
  • Digital recording and live-streaming system for lab sessions
  • Dedicated fume hood and chemical safety systems

"This lab is not just equipment — it is an invitation to wonder. We want our students to ask questions, test hypotheses, and discover for themselves. Science is best learned by doing." — Dr. Meena Krishnamurthy, Principal

Vision for Innovation

The Innovation Lab will also serve as the hub for Greenwood's new STEM Excellence Programme, where selected students from Classes IX to XII will work on advanced research projects, participate in national science competitions like INSPIRE and KVPY, and interact with visiting scientists and engineers.

The school plans to open the lab to neighbouring schools for collaborative workshops as part of its community outreach initiative, spreading the benefits of advanced science education beyond Greenwood's own walls.
